Hair accessory inspiration

Most women envision hair accessories as your run of the mill hair ties and bobby pins to keep the hair up and out of the way. But now there are so many new and chic hair accessories that have made their way into the beauty realm. Hair accessories available today range from charms to head pieces to embellished headbands to ribbons, and crystal clips.
Whether you like to wear your hair down, half up, in a bun, messy, or in a ponytail, there are a multitude of ways to add bows, ribbons, clips, and barrettes to spice up your look.  Below are some ideas of new pieces to add a fun touch to your look.

Bows

If the thought of tying a bow in your hair reminds you of third grade, today’s styles are anything but juvenile. Added bonus: they only take a minute to take your look to the next level. Simply secure your hair with a bobby pin or elastic, and add a bow of choice on top.

Clips

Clips and barrettes range in so many styles — from dainty and thin to bold and extravagant, with every style in between. There are so many ways to express your personality with clips, from adding a simple barrette where your hair parts, or adding a couple on one side for an asymmetrical cool vibe, or a bunch of small, intentionally placed clips for an ethereal look.
Let us introduce you to some styles using clips…

Headbands

Headbands provide a clever way to keep your hair—whether simply styled or in a more elaborate ’do—in place. For an understated look, choose a headband in a shade close to your hair color for a seamless look. For a bold look, try a contrasting color or an embellished headband for extra pizzaz.

Winter hair inspiration

Hair colors never really go out of style. What is most important is finding a color that suits you. That being said, there is nothing wrong with changing things up a bit for the new season. It’s always fun to liven things up, especially during the winter months when you’re in the same cozy sweaters and boots on the daily.

Hair colors never really go out of style. What is most important is finding a color that suits you. That being said, there is nothing wrong with changing things up a bit for the new season. It’s always fun to liven things up, especially during the winter months when you’re in the same cozy sweaters and boots on the daily.
Two big hair color trends we love for winter are buttercream blonde and copper-red. These colors are bold and universally flattering. Get ready to screenshot these winter hair color ideas for your next appointment.

Buttercream blonde

Mixing neutral and honey blonde tones creates an overall sun-kissed and vibrant blonde that adds warmth to lighter and medium skin tones. Buttercream blonde is a shade that requires a little less maintenance than an icy, platinum blonde. Try it out and add a sunshine-y splash to your complexion!

Copper

Cool blonde colors have been trending for a long while, and naturally, the trend is circling back to ultra warm tones in response. Copper hair is a super rich tone that comes with extra spice. You can make it your own if you want to lean on the strawberry-blonde copper side, or more brunette. If you’re thinking of warming up your hair color this winter, we’d love to help you choose your shade.

NYE 2019 hair inspiration

New Year’s Eve is a big night. And it’s the perfect opportunity to get a little extra sparkly and playful when it comes to dressing up. Doing your hair and makeup should be as fun as your night! We’ve rounded up six show-stopping looks and how to do them yourself to get ready to party like it’s (almost) 2020.

Put a bow on it

To style your hair with a bow, pull the front section of your hair back and secure with a few bobby pins. Place the bobby pins flat against your head so that the bow can be as secure as possible. Add your bow over the bobby pins, and you’re set!

Old Hollywood Glam

Messy, beachy waves are a favorite, but for a times when you want more glamour (like NYE), nothing delivers quite like the classic old hollywood waves. The trick to achieving these waves? Curl your hair towards your face instead of away, and use a 1-inch or small curling iron. Once you’ve got a head of ringlets, let them cool for a few minutes, brush them out, and set with hair spray.

Add some sparkle

New Years Eve is the perfect opportunity to go all out with sparkle. The trick to glittery greatness for the hair is hair gel and hair spray. Glitter, too, of course. Once you know where you’d like to apply glitter, mix the glitter of your choice with a clear hair gel such as r+co’s Motorcycle Gel to give it some stick. Then, use a small brush to paint on the glitter. Up the wattage even further by using your fingers to add more glitter on places that look a little sparse.

Half up, half down

Half up half down hairstyles are so easy to do, and an added bonus is that they lift the face. For added interest to a half up half down style, add a scarf or a bow.

Sleek high ponytail

Haven’t washed your hair in a day or two? No problem! Pull your hair up and back into a high pony for a sleek and chic vibe. How to: brush your hair up high, tie in an elastic, then use hairspray and a comb to flatten flyaways. We love r+co’s VICIOUS Hairspray for a slick look that stays in place all night long.

Loose Chignon

The timeless style of a chignon is always appropriate for a celebration. We love a effortless spin on the polished style - and it’s pretty easy too!
Start by using a 1-2 inch curling iron, then section your hair into 2 inch sections and curl all of your hair. You can back-comb as you go, or tease when you’ve finished curling. Spray with hair spray as you back comb, and gently smooth any flyaways.
Then, gather your hair and use an elastic to pull your hair into a ponytail. You will wrap the elastic around your hair a few times but do not pull the hair through like a normal pony tail. You will want to create a small bun, with then ends of your hair not pulled completely through. Gently lift hair at the crown of your head to add extra volume.
Use bobby pins to pin any hair that has fallen out of the bun. Finish with your favorite hairspray, and you’re done!
Cheers to 2020!
