Wash and go curls

If you have wavy or curly hair, you know the process of transforming your sometimes misbehaved curls into a beautiful head of ringlets or waves is not always an easy task. Kind of like the ‘no makeup-makeup’ look, we love the idea of wearing your curls as natural as possible without looking like, well, a mess. Styling curls is not a one-size-fits-all routine, but we have a few tricks (read more below) to incorporate into your daily routine to accentuate your natural curls or waves.
Let it be known that just because you have curly hair, it doesn't mean that you have to stick to flat ironing or throwing your hair up in a bun. Just take a cue from some of these gorgeous wash and go styles:

For the woman who wants to do as little as possible and let her curls work for her, this one's for you.

Use a Sulfate-Free shampoo + conditioner.

Curls sometimes come along with frizz, so downplaying frizz when washing your hair is a must. We recommend using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, and those that are also Sulfate-Free as Sulfates can further dry out your hair. R+Co’s CASSETTE Shampoo and Conditioner serve as fabulous options for anyone with dry and curly hair looking to restore moisture levels and shine while defining curls.

After washing, use a primer.

After you step out of the shower, implement the use of a primer. R+Co’s TWISTER Primer acts as a foundation for all your other styling products. It also adds moisture for definition and to prevent hair from feeling crunchy. This primer will not weigh down your hair but instead offers a lightweight glaze.

Define and style with a styling créme.

To keep your curls defined and bouncy, opt for a lightweight and hydrating styling cream a la R+Co’s TURNTABLE Curl Defining Créme. This crème is lightweight and designed to nourish and shape without weighing down wavy and curly hair or making curls crunch.

Get the best beauty sleep for your hair

What is your night time routine like? The term nighttime beauty is usually reserved for skincare - serums, moisturizers, eye creams, etc. Hair is often forgotten when it comes to night time beauty routines.

What is your night time routine like? The term nighttime beauty is usually reserved for skincare - serums, moisturizers, eye creams, etc. Hair is often forgotten when it comes to night time beauty routines. Simple steps to care for your hair at night can work wonders (and prevent breakage). By taking a few extra measures each night and incorporating hair care into your nighttime beauty regimen, you can ensure that your hair is protected overnight so it can stay long, strong, and flyaway-free!
Here are four ways to protect your hair while you sleep.
  1. Wear your hair up in a loose bun with a satin or silk scrunchie

Just like your products and tools, your hair will only look as good as the accessories you use. Instead of reaching for small hair elastics, use satin or silk scrunchies. Scrunchies are less harmful to your ends and securely hold your style without pulling out individual hairs like traditional hair ties do.

2. Manage frizz overnight with R+Co’s Tinsel Smoothing Oil

Formulated to smooth and seal the hair, it moisturizes, softens and drowns out frizz. Apply Tinsel to your hair while it’s wet or dry and let your locks soak it all up while you sleep, restoring your hair’s lustre and shine.

3. Wear a loose braid

A loose braid is one of the most protective hairstyles to wear while you sleep - just make sure you don’t pull it too tight! After you wash your hair, spritz wet hair with R+Co’s Sail Soft Wave Spray. Brush your hair with a wet brush after spraying, then braid your hair into one or two braids. An added bonus of the loose braid(s) at night, while you sleep: you’ll wake up with effortlessly tousled beach waves.

4. Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase

Sleeping on a satin pillowcase helps smooth frizzy hair and minimizes static, thanks to the super smooth texture. When your hair glides over silk or satin, there will be a lot less friction than when using a cotton pillowcase which means you’ll be less likely to wake up with tangles, bedhead, or frizzy hair. Since cotton is more porous than silk, your hair will also stay more hydrated.

Postpartum hair loss: how to deal

Postpartum hair loss is a real thing. Having a baby is intensely gratifying and challenging...and unfortunately 50% of women experience varying degrees of hair loss after giving birth.

Postpartum hair loss is a real thing. Having a baby is intensely gratifying and challenging...and unfortunately 50% of women experience varying degrees of hair loss after giving birth.
Hormones are the biggest reason for your pregnancy hair changes and postpartum hair loss.
During pregnancy, your high levels of estrogen prevented your usual rate of hair loss. Normally, your hair falls out in small amounts every day. During pregnancy, your hair loss decreases. The effect is compounded by your increased blood volume and circulation, which also causes your hair to fall out less than normal.
So after your baby arrives and your hormone levels drop, your hair makes up for lost time by falling out in much bigger clumps than it normally does. The total volume of your hair loss probably isn’t more than you would have lost over the last nine months, it just seems like it because it’s happening all at once. {via}
Not to worry, because your hair will go back to normal. Here are some things that can speed up the process and help with postpartum hair loss:
  1. Wear your hair down and embrace hair accessories
Pulling your hair back in a tight ponytail has its benefits, but not usually when you’re trying to give your hair a much needed break. Avoiding tension is key here. Instead, try opting for a soft, natural style and embracing your natural texture. Baby hairs? Pin them back or to the side with a pretty hair clip.

2. Go for a blunt cut
Going for a blunt cut usually makes your hair appear fuller and thicker. Not only is a blunt cut manageable, they also give longer styles extra weight.

3. Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner
Using a volumizing shampoo helps to prevent your roots from falling flat. R+Co’s Dallas Shampoo adds vitality to fine, flat hair. The Saw Palmetto Berry Extract, an ingredient in the Dallas Shampoo adds body to the hair, helping it to appear thicker.
R+Co’s Dallas Shampoo has a counterpart, Dallas Conditioner. The conditioner can be used as he final step for hair as big as Texas. This thickening conditioner will prolong vitality and enhance shine.
